The
Tornados where formed by the Producer Joe Meek, as the backing group for Billy Fury. They
hit the Charts with Love and Fury and a few weeks after Joe made Norman leave, they went to nr1 with Telstar.
The biggest selling
instrumental in history. More recently a Theatre piece by Nick Moran appeared
called Telstar, the story of Joe Meek. Sadly there was no mention of Norman
Hale as the original Tornado keyboardist. Now it has been filmed and released
on 19th of June 2009. In 2007 Norman took part in the Joe Meek Festival, gave various TV
interviews and got together with Clem Cattini for some reunion jamming.
