Norman worked as a lorry driver, distributing paint along the entire west coast and was stacking paint buckets onto shelves as a day time job whilst playin pubs with Heinz Burt (1st Picture) as the Whirlwinds and later the Falcons. Heinz went down south and a while later called Norman at his work place. He told him to quit his job right away and come to London. Heinz had found them both an opportunity to form a backing band for Billy Fury with Joe Meek as their Producer. This Band was called the Tornados. Norman never again had a day job.
